Hello
Angels, Bosley, Mr. X and the UnNamed One,
This
crash-fest brought to you by Martinsville Motor Speedway.
I can’t remember how many caution flags we had, but I do know
that we our drivers ran 117 laps under the caution, setting a new NASCAR
record.
Congratulations
to Jeff Gordon on his dominating today’s Subway 500, leading 311 laps
of the 500 laps run at the one-half oval track.
This is Gordon’s second victory this year, both at
Martinsville. He also
earned the Bud Pole for both races this year.
Ok,
back to the crashes…as with all short track racing, I don’t think
any car escapes damage from the crash-fests that happen because of the
lack of room associated with short tracks.
This includes pit road also.
Usually it’s the car with the least amount of damage that wins,
and in this case I do believe it to be Gordon, who only had one tire-rub
on the right side of his car. Other
than that it looked to be in pristine shape.
So,
how did today’s crash-fest leave our teams?
Well…once again for most of us, we also came out unscathed.
That
cannot be said for you Bosley. All
five of your drivers experienced serious carnage on the raceway, but
just one came out ok. Kurt
Busch was involved in at least two spins, the later one taking him out
of the race after his engine blew.
He finished 39th. Robby Gordon was all over the Petty Enterprises cars, but got
his due when he crashed later in the race, finishing 36th.
Rusty Wallace was spun a couple of times, the first time early
with Jimmy Spencer. He
couldn’t mount a comeback also after being penalized for speeding down
pit-road. He finished 29th.
Michael Waltrip had his hands full with a non-responsive car and
finished 26th. Your top
driver today is Ryan Newman who was involved early in a spin, but was
able to climb back into the top-10 for a fifth-place finish.
Your third GOLDEN CABOOSE AWARD earning average (the third in
last four races) is a very disappointing 27 even.
Much better luck next week.
Mr.
X, you didn’t even come close to the GCA this week, but you are still
our seventh place teammate today. This
is because Jeremy Mayfield had a horrific day finishing 10-laps down in
33rd place. Other than that
your drivers had a decent day. Greg
Biffle finished in the 19th spot, the last car on the lead lap.
Ricky Rudd (Go Air Force), finished 15th, while Mark Martin, who
was involved in that crash with Kurt Busch, finished 14th.
Your top driver today is Newman and his fifth place finish.
Your average finish is a not so bad 17.2.
Better luck next week.
Kelly,
like you two were close to being in contention for the GCA today. This is because your Texas heartthrob, Bobby Labonte blew his
engine up. Unfortunately
for you and Labonte, he finished 41st today.
Joe Nemachek, in his last race for Hendrick Motor Sports, paced
the field for a few laps today, but came up short one-lap down in 20th
place. Rudd didn’t hurt you with his 15th place finish.
Your top drivers are Nemachek’s, now former, teammates Terry
Labonte and Jeff Gordon, finishing sixth and first.
Your average finish is 16.6.
Nice job.
Sabrina,
if it wasn’t for Robby Gordon’s crash, and Ken Schrader cutting a
tire with 14-laps left, you would’ve had an outstanding day, not that
you didn’t have a good-day just the same.
Robby Gordon finished 36th, while Schrader, who was running sixth
at the time, ended one-lap down in 22nd.
Your remaining three drivers, Dale Earnhardt Jr., (you’re
Italian stallion) Tony Stewart, and Jimmie Johnson, finished
consecutively at fourth, third and second.
Your average finish is a very-nice 13.4.
Kris,
you and I tied this week for the fourth spot on our Charlie’s
Angels’ Fantasy League. Mayfield’s
problems and 33rd place finish cost you the most, while John Andretti
cutting the same tire three times in 50 laps cost me the most.
Andretti finished 31st. Mike
Skinner didn’t hurt you too badly with his 21st place finish, while
Biffle’s 19th didn’t cost me too much either.
You’re remaining three drivers, Terry Labonte, Earnhardt and
Jeff Gordon, finished sixth, fourth and first respectively. My remaining
three drivers, Matt Kenseth, Johnson and Jeff Gordon, finished 13th,
second and first respectively. Our tying average finish this week is a nice-13 even.
UnNamed
One, while you only had one driver in the top-10 this week, you were
able to beat Kris and I for the third spot on our team’s average
finish contest. Your worst
driver is Biffle with his 19th place finish. Rudd’s 15th place finish
didn’t finish you off, while Kenseth helped you with his 13th place.
Dale Jarrett fought his way back from a mid-race spin to finish
just outside the top-10 in 11th. Your
top driver today is Newman and his fifth place finish.
Your average finish today is a nice, 12.6.
Tiffany,
Andretti was your nemesis today with his three cut-tires and 31st place
finish. Martin’s
overcoming his hard crash with Busch and 14th place finish was key in
you taking the second spot today. Kevin
Harvick definitely helped that fact with his seventh place finish too.
Earnhardt and Johnson complete your five-some with their fourth
and second place finishes. Your
average finish this week is a very nice 11.6.
Jill,
that leaves you to this week’s TOP ANGEL AWARD.
You almost got the highest average finish again this week, having
four of your drivers finish in the top-5, but the person who stopped you
last week, did it to you again. Kevin
LaPage, who is driving on an interim contract, didn’t have as good a
race as he and you were hoping, finishing 35th.
Not driving on interim contracts, and finishing first, second,
third and fifth are Jeff Gordon, Johnson, Stewart and Newman.
Your TAA winning average finish this week is an outstanding 9.2.
Congratulations.
Our
teams combined average finish is 13.38.
Next
week’s race is the Bass Pro Shops MBNA 500 at Atlanta Motor
Speedway. Don't forget to update your team's drivers list by
Thursday at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time.
Good luck next week Angels,
Charlie
