Hello
Angels, Bosley, Mr. X and the UnNamed One,
Twenty
cautions. Need I say more?
Every one of us had at least one driver on our teams that was involved
in one wreck or another. Some,
like myself, had one driver involved in multiple wrecks.
As
for the race winner…Kurt Busch, he didn’t come out unscathed
himself. There was a bunch
of controversy involving him, and Jimmy Spencer still brewing from
last-weeks’ race. For
those of you living in a vacuum, Spencer and Busch had contact on the
racetrack that Spencer didn’t like.
It carried over to the garage area after the race ending when
Spencer allegedly punched Busch in the face.
Spencer
was fined, suspended for one week and put on probation for the remainder
of the year. Busch, for his
actions on the racetrack, was also put on probation for the remainder of
the year.
To
make matters worse, Busch made some comments on Friday that got all of
the drivers upset at him…by saying basically (and I’m paraphrasing
here) that bumping someone out of the way is just racing.
Well, it may be racing at Bristol, but not at Michigan, Daytona,
Charlotte and Talladega. Busch
did back up his words though last night while running for second place
when he “accidentally” punted Sterling Marlin out of the way into
the wall. After winning the
race, Busch started his post-race interview by saying he didn’t mean
to do it. I find that
extremely questionable based on his earlier comments. Granted he had the faster car, but that means you use caution
when trying to pass someone. There
was no other traffic in the area and was no reason to bump him out of
the way. Of course where he
was trying to pass, if there is contact, there’s going to be a wreck,
and 20 cautions last night are a great example of it.
I
guess it’s congratulations to Busch on his win last night, but I have
serious concerns on whether he really deserved the win. This is just my
two-cents worth anyway.
Ok,
so lets see where the crash-fest, known as the Sharpie 500 at Bristol
Motor Speedway left affected the outcome of our second segment of the
Charlie’s Angels’ Fantasy League.
Kelly,
for you the crashes affected your outcome drastically.
Two weeks ago you were in second place for this segment,
unfortunately you won’t finish there, but will be this week’s
recipient of the GOLDEN CABOOSE Award.
Mark Martin had a great car, but had a slight mishap on pit road
where his catch can got stuck in the car when he was exiting the pits.
He was had to come back in the pits for a stop and go penalty. He dropped from 3rd place to 26th, and on the restart was
involved in a crash that sent his car careening into the wall and out of
the race finishing 36th. Jeff
Burton was also involved in a wreck or two and finished 32nd. Bobby Labonte had his own problems throughout the night and
was lucky to finish in 27th. Labonte’s
teammate, Tony Stewart was sent into the wall but was able to continue
and finish 22nd. Your top
finisher Terry Labonte, whom I believe is your only driver unscathed in
the crash fest, finished 11th. Your
GOLDEN CABOOSE earning average finish is a very disappointing 25.8. I definitely wish you much better luck next segment.
Kris,
you and I tie for the next two positions.
My worst driver this week is Jeff Green, who I eluded too earlier
when I said he was involved in multiple wrecks.
I believe he was responsible for three of them, and involved in
5. His last wreck someone spun him out finally and ended his day
in 40th spot. Your worst
driver is Jeff Gordon, who I also share.
He was running well until the middle of the race where his car
started fading. He was
eventually taken out when Ken Schrader cut a tire down and Gordon got
bunched up. Matt Kenseth rear-ended Gordon and sent him into the wall.
Gordon finished 28th while Kenseth (who I also have on my team)
went on to finish 4th. Greg
Biffle was involved in a couple of wrecks himself, but was able to
finish 22nd. Kris, you also
have Mike Skinner who had a decent race and finished 18th and Dale
Earnhardt Jr., who finished 9th.
The only driver I haven’t mentioned from my team is Jimmie
Johnson who finished 5th. Our
shared average finish is another disappointing one of 20 even.
Bosley,
your worst driver, Rusty Wallace, was involved in a spectacular wreck
with Michael Waltrip early in the race.
Waltrip spun out in a turn and hit the outside retaining wall.
When his car crept down the racetrack, Wallace was unable to
avoid broadsiding Waltrip destroying both cars in the process and
sending Wallace to the hospital to be checked out.
While both drivers are ok, they finished in the bottom two
positions. Which hurt you
considerably Bosley. Stewart
and Biffle finished 23rd and 22nd respectfully.
Ryan Newman finished in 6th, and “Rubber-head,” as Kevin
Harvick described Kurt Busch, of course won the race.
Your average finish is also a disappointing 19 even.
Better luck next segment.
UnNamed
One, unfortunately last nights race will have no effect on your
standings for the second segment, but you drivers at least tried to help
you. Elliott Sadler was
running well when he spun out and crashed similar to what happened to
him at last-year’s night race at Bristol.
This year he finished 38th.
He was really your only blunder but Biffle had his moments with
his 22nd place finish. Your
remaining drivers, Dale Jarrett, Kenseth and Busch all finished in the
top-10 with Jarrett in 7th, Kenseth in 4th and Busch winning the race.
Your average finish is a not too shabby 14.4.
Better luck next segment.
Jill,
this race did nothing for you as far as standings was concerned, but you
still didn’t have a bad race considering Gordon’s mishaps over the
past several weeks. Gordon
is your worst driver and finished 28th.
Stewart could’ve done better had he not been sent into the wall
after which he finished 23rd. Your
remaining drivers, Jarrett, Newman and Johnson, finished 7th, 6th and
5th respectfully. Your average finish is a nice 13.8. I don’t think I need to wish you better luck next segment,
but I hope you continue your winning ways.
Mr.
X, your worst two drivers are Stewart and Biffle, who finished 23rd and
22nd respectfully. Jarrett
was next in 7th, while Newman was right in front of him in 6th.
Your top driver this week is Harvick who had a chance to win late
in the race, finish 2nd. Nice
job on your average finish of 12 even.
Tiffany,
by process of crash eliminations, you are our TOP ANGEL AWARD winner for
this, our last race of the second segment week.
Your worst driver today is Joe Nemachek who while involved in a
wreck or two himself, finished 19th.
Marlin’s crash obviously didn’t hurt you too badly because he
finished 17th. Earnhardt
finished 9th, while Johnson finished 5th and Harvick 2nd.
Congratulations on your TAA average finish of 10.4.
Well,
here is the final standings for the end of Segment TWO of the
Charlie’s Angels’ Fantasy League.
Kelly
unfortunately you took the biggest hit this week and ended the segment
in 7th place. The only two
positions that didn’t change this week I believe are the first and
last place finishers, Jill and UnNamed One.
Congratulations Jill on your Segment Two win, and our condolences
to you UnNamed One on your last place finish.
Sometime
this week, the NASCAR ESPN.RPM Stockcar Challenge web site will update
and we’ll have to pick our drivers for Darlington, the first race of
Segment Three.
Don’t
forget to update your drivers by Thursday at 11:59 pm Pacific Time.
Sabrina
and Julie, I hope you two decide to join us once again.
Good
luck Angels,
Charlie
