MBNA Armed Forces Family 400 Results

Hello Angels, Bosley, Mr. X and the UnNamed One,

I’m going to start today by talking about consistency…and there is no one more consistent right now than Bobby Labonte and his third straight third place finish…Consistency is what wins championships…and Labonte is showing what made him a Winston Cup Champion again.  All I have to say is look out everyone; Joe Gibbs racing may have another championship year.

There is also a rivalry heating up again…one that started three weeks ago in the Winston, and was renewed again today between Jeff Gordon and Sterling Marlin.   Just like what happened in the Winston, Marlin was sent spinning after contact between his and Gordon’s cars.  Gordon went on to finish 2nd today, while Marlin finished 35th.   We shall see what happens next time the two-get together…

And finally congratulations to MBNA Armed Forces Family 400 race winner, Ryan Newman, who also had the pole for the race too.  This is his second win after having bad luck plague him over the past several races.

Sabrina (Susan) and Julie (Jen T), Unfortunately the two of you don’t have your driver picks registered for the second week in a row.  I know I mentioned consistency, but this is one time where consistency does not pay off.  So, by defacto, you are both again the GOLDEN CABOOSE recipients.

If it wasn’t for Sabrina and Julie, I would be the Golden Caboose recipient this week because of crashes and other problems.  Kyle Petty was the first to go when he got collected in a 7-car pile-up after Jack Sprague hit the wall.  He finished dead last.  Jimmie Johnson was in 4th place when he hit the wall and crashed out of the race.  He finished 38th.  Joe Nemachek had problems early in the race and finished 24th.  The only thing saving me from total meltdown this week is Matt Kenseth and Gordon, who finished 7th and 2nd respectively.  My average finish is 23 even.

UnNamed One (Ray) you didn’t do much better with the Yates teammates exiting the race early too.  But for Dale Jarrett and Elliott Sadler, I believe it was engine problems rather than crashes.  They finished 39th and 33rd respectively.  Greg Biffle on the other hand was in two wrecks and could only muster a 30th place finish.  Lucky for you, you had Kenseth with his 7th place finish and race winner Newman on your team.  They helped you to a 22 for an average finish.  Better luck next week.

Tiffany (Jen R)…crashes also hurt you.  For you it was the two Jimmies, or Jimmy’s depending on which driver you’re talking about.  Jimmie Johnson crashed out first with his 38th place finish.  Jimmy Spencer crashed earlier, but still managed a 29th place finish.  Nemachek didn’t hurt you too badly with his 24th place finish.   Dale Earnhardt Jr., came back from a wreck during practice yesterday to finish 11th.  Johnny Benson was the surprise visitor to the top-10 this week with his 5th place finish.   Your average finish though was only 21.4.   Better luck next week.

Kris (Peggy), Ward Burton’s involvement in the 2nd–lap crash could’ve really hurt you, but in the end, it was Burton’s engine which caused the demise of his day.  He finished 37th.   Spencer’s 29th didn’t hurt you too terribly, but Bill Elliott’s crash during the three weeks ago continues to plague him and his broken foot.  He could only muster a 22nd place finish.   Helping you though was having Earnhardt’s 11th place finish, and of course Gordon’s 2nd place finish.  Your average finish is 20.2.  Better luck next week.

Jill (Jennie), all I have to say to you is having Jarrett and Johnson on your team this week hurt you…especially with their 39th and 38th place finishes.  Because your other drivers, Tony Stewart, Gordon and Newman, finished 4th, 2nd, and first respectively…. unfortunately, your average finish is only 16.8.  Nice job.

Mr. X (Ray) your worst driver today was Mongo…err, Jimmy Spencer and his 29th place finish.  Ken Schrader didn’t hurt you too badly either with his 26th place finish.  Helping you was having Earnhardt, Kenseth and Stewart on your team.  You’re average finish this week is 15.4.  Nice job.

Bosley (Jude), your worst driver today is Steve Park who finished 32nd.  Mikey Waltrip and Kurt Busch finished 16th and 15th respectively, and Rusty Wallace and Stewart finished 6th and 4th.  Your average finish is 14.6. Also a nice job.

Speaking of recoveries…. Kelly (Sarah) had a disastrous week last week, but managed a complete 180-degree turn around with a top-10 average finish this week and the TOP ANGEL AWARD with 4 of your drivers finishing in the top-10.  Not in that group is Mark Martin who was collected one of the multi-car crashes.  Still he finished 18th.  In the other group you have Terry Labonte, Ricky Craven, Stewart and Bobby Labonte finishing 10th, 8th, 4th and 3rd respectively.  Your TOP ANGEL AWARD winning average is a very nice 8.6.  Nice turnaround from last week too.

Our teams’ average finish this week is 14.18.

Next week’s race is the Pocono 500 at Pocono Raceway in Pennsylvania.   Don’t forget to update your drivers by Thursday, 11:59 p.m. Pacific time.

Good luck Angels.

Charlie
